The Canadian Diamond Drilling Association (CDDA) is considering changing its name to better reflect the drilling industry as a whole.
A motion was put forward at the annual general meeting in Montreal of changing the name to eliminate the word “Diamond” so that drilling companies in other areas of the industry might be encouraged to join the organization. Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation of plaques by Reynald Michaud, director and safety chairman of the CDDA. This year’s recipients include Bradley Bros., Hosking Diamond Drilling, Heath & Sherwood and Forage B.F.M.
The Mining Award went to Falconbridge’s operations in Sudbury, Ont., and the meeting concluded with a banquet.
Next year’s annual meeting and convention will be held in Vancouver, B.C.
