CDA elects board at annual meeting

The election of a new board of directors was one of the highlights for the 110 delegates who attended the 53rd annual convention of the Canadian Drilling Association, held May 1-3 at Nova Scotia’s Sheraton Halifax.

The board includes: John Leblanc of Lantech Drilling Services; Russell Laporte of St. Lambert Drilling; Reynald Michaud of Major Drilling; Paul Smith of Bradley Bros.; Matt Norris of Enviro-Tech Drilling Services; Colin McIsaac of Midwest Drilling; Alen Clarke of West Coast Drilling Supplies; and Richard Kemshall of Heath & Sherwood Drilling. Dare Fowler of Boart Long- year was elected president of the association.

Safety awards were presented at a luncheon. Winners include: Bradley Bros. of Rouyn-Noranda, Que. (Class A Surface); St. Lambert Drilling of Valleyfield, Que. (Class B Surface); Forage BFM of Val d’Or, Que. (Class A Underground); Boart Longyear of North Bay, Ont. (Henry Skowronski Memorial Award); and Falconbridge of Sudbury, Ont. (Mining Award).
