Partners Continental Caretech (CDN) and Teck (TSE) have drilled three deep holes on the Thunder Lake West gold property in northern Ontario.
They are the first in a series of widely spaced holes designed to test a gold-bearing alteration zone that envelopes the more intensely drilled No. 1 Shoot area.
Hole TL-125 cut the alteration zone at a vertical depth of 1,037 ft. and intersected a true thickness of 4.8 ft., averaging 3.68 oz. gold per ton. This hole was drilled more than 300 ft. east of the nearest previous hole.
TL-126 cut a true thickness of 6.5 ft., averaging 0.32 oz. gold per ton at a vertical depth of 1,450 ft., 650 ft. east of TL-125.
TL-126, collared 1,299 ft. east of TL-125, cut low-grade mineralization over similar widths.
To date, almost 90,000 ft. have been drilled at a cost exceeding $3 million.
Elsewhere in Ontario, Caretech is earning a half interest in the Aubrey property from Teck. The junior drilled a single, short hole to test a zone of alteration and anomalous gold mineralization. While the results were described as encouraging, Caretech is not planning any additional drilling.
