Mechanical Coordinator (Concentrator)

Reporting to the Section Manager, Concentrator Maintenance, you will coordinate a team assigned to the maintenance of all production equipment associated with a concentrator such as conveyors, crushers, grinding mills, pumps, etc.

You are a graduate mechanical Technologist or a tradesperson with interprovincial status, and have a strong maintenance background and previous supervisory experience.

Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to the Area Manager, Technical Services, you will provide mechanical engineering support and serve as a technical resource person for the primary processes (mining and concentrating) at Scully Mine.

Your specific responsibilities will include managing mechanical engineering projects, evaluating mechanical equipment malfunctions, directing and coordinating work of engineering consultants and contractors, as well as providing technical guidance and assistance with troubleshooting.

You are a graduate Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of five years of experience.

For both positions, candidates possessing an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

Chief Geologist

The mission of Manitoba Energy and Mines is to foster investment in the sustainable development of our mineral, petroleum and energy resources, and to promote wise land management. To assist in achieving the objective, the Department is seeking an individual to fill the position of Chief Geologist of the Sedimentary and Industrial Minerals Section.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in geology or a related earth science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive experience in geoscientific investigation related to industrial minerals, sedimentary geology of the Williston Basin and/or quaternary geology and geochemistry. Proven record of fostering and maintaining a collaborative work environment including cooperation with industry clients, other government agencies and universities. Extensive project, financial and human resources management experience. Strong communications and organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Good computer skills are required. Must be willing to travel.

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing field programs; maintaining consultation with client groups including private sector as well as other provincial, federal and municipal agencies; managing field support programs, including sample preparation laboratories and drilling operations; preparation of multi-year strategic plans and annual workplans and budgets; overseeing the timely publication of field mapping and sample collection programs; management of allocated financial and staff resources; and participation in policy development for the Department.

Rock Mechanics Engineer

The successful candidate will be a Rock Mechanics Engineer with a t least 10 years relevant experience. Excellent communication skills are required, as well as a demonstrated ability to develop and implement new geotechnical programs.

This position will interact closely with fellow mining professionals and the general workforce at the Myra falls operation, as well as the Boliden Research and Development group. The rock mechanics engineer will create and deliver new and advanced rock mechanics programs which integrate international ground control methods and technologies.

Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the rock mechanics engineer will work independently in administering the day to day operations of existing geotechnical programs and develop the relevant technologies to evaluate new producing areas and mining methods. The position will be responsible for determining the effect of rock behavior in compensation to mining activities and propose the necessary ground reinforcement to facilitate safe and efficient underground operation.

Qualifications:

Mine Operations Superintendent

Responsible for directing all mining operations to achieve production goals in a safe, cost effective and environmentally sound manner. A strong technical background, coupled with supervisory experience at an operating property is essential.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Geological Engineering with a minimum of ten years progressively responsible supervisory experience required.

Mine Engineering Superintendent

Accountable for developing and implementing short and long range planning and operations control through surveying, drill and blast design and statistical data analysis. An appreciation for ore control and support of pit productivity is essential, as well as an understanding of geostatistical methods and principles.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering with at least ten years experience in open pit mining required.

Mine Geological Superintendent

Responsible for overseeing and directing all geological work associated with grade control, geologic mapping and interpretation, exploration drilling, geological model updating and property geotechnical requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering with at least 10 years large scale open pit operation experience. Skarn deposit work a distinct advantage. Must be proficient in computerized geology/mine planning systems.

Senior Mine Foreman

Responsible for directing all mining operations on the assigned shift to achieve production goals in safe, cost effective and environmentally sound manner. Guidance and training of subordinate supervisory staff will be an important element of this job.

Qualifications:

Mining engineering or technological degree with at a least ten years of progressive supervisory experience.

Senior Mine Planning Engineer

Responsible for co-ordinating and administering all mine engineering functions. Extensive background in selective ore control techniques required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or the equivalent is required with at least 10 years experience at progressively increasing levels of responsibility.

Senior Mine Geologist

Responsible for all geological mapping and for providing geological information and support for engineering, mine and mill operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering with seven to ten years open pit operations experience. Proficiency in computerized geology/mine planning necessary.

Positions will be based in the town of Huarcz, located 5 hours from the minesite and 7 hours from Lima. An attractive expatriate package will be provided.
