Endako Mines, a Joint Venture of Thompson Creek Mining Ltd. and Nissho Iwai Moly Resources Inc., is a major integrated molybdenum mine and refining plant producing value added products to the steel and petroleum industries. We are currently seeking applications from qualified individuals. Applicants with previous mining experience are preferred.

Electrician

The successful candidate will be an Electrician with interprovincial certification and should be experienced in all areas of electrical maintenance and fixed plant and mobile mining equipment. Electronics experience would also be an asset.

Instrumentation Technician

The successful candidate will be an instrumentation Mechanic with interprovincial certification and should be experience in all areas of process instrumentation installation and maintenance.

Millwright

The successful candidate will be a Certified Millwright with interprovincial certification and should have extensive maintenance experience with heavy machinery and equipment in an industrial setting. Welding experience would be an asset.

Welder

The successful candidate will be Certified “A” Welder with an interprovincial ticket and should be experience in all areas o mine maintenance of fixed plant and mobile mining equipment. A pressure welding ticket would be an asset.

These trades positions are full-time positions with a comprehensive benefit package and a base rate of $25.47 per hour. Moving expenses assistance will be provided up to $2,000.00.

Experienced Mill Operators

The successful candidates will be experienced in crushing grinding and flotation. These positions are also full-time position with a comprehensive benefit package. The starting rate for these positions is $20.81 per hour. Relocation assistance is not provided for these positions.

Endako Mine is a large open pit molybdenum mine located 25 km from the Village of Fraser Lake. Fraser lake, with an area population of approximately 2000, is situated near the geographic centre of British Columbia and offers a variety of year-round recreational activities.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Highland Valley Copper, Canada’s largest open pit copper mine, has an opening for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in our Mine Engineering group.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Engineering, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for the direction of the slope stability program in two large open pit mines. Int his capacity, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will have the assistance of onsite technical personnel, and access to geotechnical consultants as required. The successful candidate will also be capable of providing control of geotechnical consultants and contractors for tailings dam construction and maintenance. Good interpretive and communication skills are essential as this position requires development of strong relationship with the operating and management groups.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified geotechnical engineer eligible fo r membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoschientists of British Columbia, with a sound knowledge of rock mechanics, hydrology and a minimum of 10 years practical experience in geotechnical applications for high wall open pit mines and large earth fill dams.

Mill Metallurgical Technicians

District Support Geologist

$32,300-$35,000

A highly motivated, bilingual individual is needed by the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines to provide technical support and administrative assistance to the resident geologist program. You will: assist staff with property visits and drill-core library operations/services; provide technical assistance/information services to clients; process/maintain assessment files and related databases; perform clerical/administrative functions. Location: Thunder Bay.

Qualifications: working knowledge of geology usually obtained through combination of education and experience; good knowledge of Ontario’s geotechnical assessment system; knowledge of the Mining Act and administrative polic
ies/procedures; ability to read/interpret geological maps, air photos, etc., and operate CAD Geological plotting/software applications; knowledge of worker responsibilities outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act; proficiency in English and French.

Mine Engineering Manager

Competition No. 99-572 – Reporting to the Director, Mine Engineering, you will be responsible for on eof several functional areas – Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Tailings Engineering, or Projects with 5-10 technical staff reporting to each area.

Candidates should possess extensive experience in surface mining at progressive levels of responsibility with demonstrated strengths in team building, problem solving and project management.

Senior/Staff — Geotechnical Engineer

Competition no. 99-275 – Combining a blend of technical and managerial skills, you will have responsibility for the design, construction and performance monitoring of some of the largest sand fill overburden dykes in Alberta. You will face frequent and varied challenges in a dynamic growth environment.

Qualified candidates will possess a post graduate degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization and have demonstrated experience with earth fill structures in a civil, mining or consulting capacity. The ability to communicate well with operations personnel, planners, regulators, and industry experts is required.

Intermediate/Senior Mining Engineers

Competition No. 99-561 – Several opportunities exist in Long and Short Range Mine Planning and Tailings Engineering. Responsibilities include planning and feasibility studies for the existing mine and expansion projects. A rotation in Mine Operations in a production engineering and supervisory capacity is a distinct possibility.

Qualified candidates will posses a Mining or Civil Engineering degree and proven mining experience, preferably in surface mining.

Intermediate/Senior Geologist

Competition #99-564 – Reporting to the Manager, Long Range Planning, you will be primarily responsible for interpretation of exploration results and modeling the oil sand deposit. You may also be required to support annual exploration drilling programs and production geology.

A degree in Geology or Geological Engineering and 5+ years of related experience is required.

Maintenance Engineer/Supervisor

Competition #99-562 – Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Equipment Maintenance, your mandate will be to maximize the availability of a large fleet of mining equipment in a safe and cost effective manner.

Your degree in Mechanical Engineering is complemented by in-depth mining experience and/or a background in a supervisory role.

Senior Process Engineer

Competition #99-555 – Reporting to the Director, Process Engineering, this challenging role will see you lead an integration process for site-wide process water systems with the aim of improving plant production levels, profitability and sustainability.

Your degree in Mineral Process or Chemical Engineering is complemented by a minimum of 8 years of experience in a process-related industrial environment.

Mine Operations Supervisor

Competition #99-559 – Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Operations, you will oversee a multi-skilled unionized workforce an be responsible for achieving production targets in accordance with prescribed daily plans, policies, and procedures.

Together with an Engineering degree and sound operations experience within an open pit environment, we are seeking candidates with good working knowledge of OH&S regulation, an understanding of Loss Management techniques and experience supervising heavy equipment operations.

Excellent motivational communication, interpersonal and computer skills are further requirements of these positions. Eligibility for membership in APEGGA is essential for positions requiring an engineering degree.
