Careers

with Canada’s First Diamond Mine

BHP Diamonds Inc. operates the EKATI Diamond Mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories. This mine went into production in October, 1998. The company provides air charter transportation to the site from Yellowknife and selected communities in the region. Staff accommodations on site are in a comfortable, modern facility.

Due to stringent security requirements, all employees will be required to undergo a criminal code record check, which may include fingerprinting.

Maintenance Superintendent – Process

Reporting to the Maintenance and Supply Manager, the incumbent plays a key role in promoting a Safety First approach to all maintenance activities at EKATI Diamond Mine, Northwest Territories.

The Maintenance Superintendent develops and manages all maintenance activities for the Process Plant, including mechanical and electrical maintenance, maintenance planning, maintenance engineering, services maintenance and fuel distribution.

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for establishing safe and efficient work practices consistent with production and cost targets, and establishes strong team-based relationships with managers and superintendents.

Applicants should have the following qualifications/experience:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical)

    10 Years experience in mine operations and maintenance management Demonstrated leadership skills in past positions

    Strong communications skills both written and oral

    Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

    Good understanding of predictive and proactive maintenance principles

This is a 4 day in / 3 out position, working 12 hours per day at the mine site.

Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.

Environmental co-Ordinator

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is presently seeking an Environmental Co-ordinator to be based at its Laronde Division located in the Abitibi region of Northwestern Quebec.

The Laronde Mine is a modern underground mechanized operation that is currently in the middle of an expansion program aimed at increasing production to 5,000 TPD.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Environmental Co-ordinator will be responsible for all environmental aspects in Northwestern Quebec, the development and implementation of an environmental management system, and represent the Company with various regulatory and industry agencies.

The incumbent will be knowledgeable with all regulations and industry standards. The position requires a university degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of five (5) years of experience within the mining sector.
