Vancouver – The first hole testing a 1.1-km long electromagnetic (UTEM) anomaly at Kelowna-based Cantex Mine Development‘s (CD-V) Suwar nickel-copper-cobalt project in Yemen, has intersected 5-25% disseminated sulphides. The sulphide zone starts from 31-metre depth and includes a 1-metre interval of massive sulphides.
Hole Y005-6 is located 500 metres from previously drilled mineralization found at Suwar Hill. The intercept gives the mineralized zone a potential extent of at least 800 metres, although infill drilling will be needed to confirm the continuity.
Plans call for four more drill holes to test the UTEM anomaly where it coincides with a gossanous outcrop that extends 450 metres north beyond Hole Y005-6.
Fourteen samples from four sites along the gossanous zone were found to contain levels of nickel and copper not unlike those found over the previously reported nickel-copper deposit at Suwar Hill. There massive sulphide intercepts contain nickel grades ranging from 1.2-1.5%.
The company believes that the gossan samples along the UTEM anomaly reflect nickel-mineralized sulphides.
Cantex plans to complete drilling in the next month and finish mapping the UTEM anomaly between Suwar Hill and Nashir village, 1.6 km to the southwest.
Suwar Hill will be drill-tested for Jinchuan style nickel-copper mineralization.
