Cancor plans more drilling at Gemini

With results from five more drill holes in hand, Cancor Mines (KCR-M) is reviewing existing data in order to guide the next phase of drilling at the Gemini property, north of La Sarre, in Quebec’s Abitibi region.

The best result from the latest round of drilling was hole 8770, which hit 12.8 metres grading 0.2% copper and 9.67% zinc, plus 57.4 grams silver and 3.48 grams gold per tonne. It was spotted 50 metres south of hole 87760, described as “the discovery hole,” which returned 8.76 metres grading 0.02% copper, 12.29% zinc, 208.16 grams silver and 1.15 grams gold per tonne.

Most of the other holes hit narrower intervals (1.45 metres to 7 metres) and returned grades ranging from 0.02% copper to 2% copper, 0.17% zinc to 5% zinc, 8.96 to 57 grams silver, and 0.16 to 1.2 grams gold.

Cancor says drilling to date has confirmed a base metal sulphide zone with zinc, gold and silver values, and an exhalative breccia zone with copper and gold values.

Drilling will resume after spring breakup. The junior can earn a 50% interest in the property from Inco (N-T) by spending $1.45 million on exploration. More than $600,000 has been spent to date. Gemini is adjacent to Cancor’s Turgeon property, which is believed prospective for gold and base metals.
