Canarc cuts significant gold at Benzdorp

Canarc Resource (CCM-T) has cut significant gold on its Benzdorp property, 300 km southeast of Parimaribo, Suriname.

The latest drilling of the JQA prospect is highlighted by one hole which cut up to 400 metres grading 0.48 gram gold per tonne. This was the entire length of the hole. Between surface and 120 metres down-hole the grade averaged 1.14 grams gold per tonne.

Another hole graded .52 gram gold per tonne over 238 metres.

Two other holes graded 1.01-1.14 grams gold over widths of 24-44 metres from surface. Over their full lengths, these holes cut 256-315 metres grading 0.45-0.55 gram gold per tonne.

One hole cut two intervals 10 and 12 metres wide, which graded 1.01 and 1.08 grams gold respectively. Overall this hole cut 169 metres grading 0.6 gram gold beginning at surface.

JQA was tested by 13 holes (3,984 metres). The prospect has a known 500-metre by 500-metre area. Holes were drilled through saprolite; eight cut the underlying porphyry stockwork. In a 200-metre by 200-metre area, the zone was extended up to 350 metres in depth.

Copper mineralization was sporadic. Five holes cut multiple zones, which graded .1-.2% copper over widths of 9-134 metres. Hole 50, cut .1% copper over 224 metres. This included an 18.3-metre interval, which graded .29% copper. In addition this hole cut 58 metres (from surface) grading .65 gram gold per tonne.

The JQA prospect is one of 12 prospective areas identified by Canarc along the eastern 10% of its 1,380-sq.-km Benzdorp property.

Canarc has an option to own 80% of the Benzdorp property, through its Suriname joint-venture subsidiary, Benzdorp Gold. The remaining 20% will be held by the state of Suriname.

Results from preliminary metallurgical tests are expected in the near future. Additional drilling is planned, to try to firm up a resource.
