Canada, Honduras sign geo deal

Canada and Honduras will work together to improve land use in the Central American country, particularly in rural areas.

Ralph Goodale, minister of Natural Resources Canada, and Pedro Arturo Sevilla, Honduran minister of Agriculture and Livestock, have signed a 5-year agreement that will strengthen ties between the two countries’ public and private geomatics sectors. Under the agreement, Geomatics Canada will work on property systems, mapping, remote sensing and geographic information systems in Honduras.

“Canada’s geomatics community is a world leader,” says Goodale. “This agreement paves the way for my department, in co-operation with private industry, to provide products and services that can support development in Honduras.”

He adds that the agreement is designed to enable Honduras to benefit from Canadian geomatics technology.
