Canada, Chile in joint effort

The governments of Canada and Chile recently signed a letter of intent for an agreement promoting co-operation in mineral technology during the next five years.

The two agencies involved are CANMET (Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology) and Chile’s mining and metallurgical research centre, Centro de Investigacion Minera y Metalurgica. The organizations play similar roles in contributing to research and development efforts and technology transfer. The agreement will cover areas such as sulphuric emission reduction and acid mine drainage technology.
