Saskatoon-based Cameco (TSE) says it has secured a 7-year agreement to provide Ontario Hydro with more than 2.7 million lb. of U3O8.
The company says the uranium, to be supplied from Cameco’s Saskatchewan mines, will account for about one-quarter of the volume covered under new Ontario Hydro agreements for the period 1996-2002.
Cameco is already supplying Ontario Hydro with processing services required to convert uranium concentrate into uranium dioxide for fabrication into fuel for its nuclear energy plants.
The agreement represents a 3% increase in Cameco’s committed concentrate sales volumes through to 2002.
