Cambiex to drill Cambior properties

Montreal-listed Cambiex Exploration has discovered a new gold-bearing quartz vein on the Annie Laurie property in Utah. This brings to five the number of gold-bearing veins found on the property.

The new sub-vertical vein, called the Northeaster, is about 1 metre thick and has been traced for 270 metres. The best assay from channel sampling averaged 87.1 grams gold per tonne over 14.4 metres.

The company plans to carry out trenching and a 3,100-metre drill program to outline the vein.

Cambiex can earn a 40% interest in the Annie Laurie property by spending US$665,000 on exploration before Dec. 31, 1996.

It has also begun exploring other properties optioned from Cambior (TSE). Over the next 12 months, 60,000 metres of drilling will be performed on seven North American properties and on one in Chile.
