Calgary firm to study coal mining practices

Calgary-based Associated Mining Consultants (AMCL) has been awarded a contract through Canadian Commercial Corp. for a preparatory study of coal mining practices and the reclamation of coal-mined lands in the Ostrava-Karvina district of northern Moravia, Czech and Slovak Federal Republic.

The completed study will be approved by the Czech Republic government and the World Bank and will be the basis for the possible granting of loans by the World Bank to implement the findings of the study.

Northern Moravia and sections of Poland were designated by the socialist regime to be the focus of heavy industrial activities during 1948-90. AMCL is also involved in projects in Iran and Pakistan.
