An agreement to acquire a calcium carbonate deposit near Tweed, Ont., has been negotiated by Eastern Stone Products (ASE).
The company says sampling indicates a high degree of purity and brightness and a low silica content. Industrial applications for calcium carbonate include as a filler or extender in the plastics industry and as a flux for smelting various metallic ores.
