Calcined lime interests Aster

A decision to concentrate its efforts on the production of calcined lime from its Portage-du-Fort property in the Ottawa River region of Quebec has been taken by Aster Exploration (ME).

The company sees a potential market for the lime in the mining industries in Quebec and Ontario and in the steel industry in the Montreal area.

Aster has given Kilborn & Associates Ltd. the go-ahead to do a study of the calcined lime market and to undertake metallurgical testing at a pilot plant.

A pre-feasibility study performed by Kilborn on the property indicates reserves of 18 million tons of top grade dolomite, with less than 1% silica impurities and an iron content of about 0.15%, Aster says.
