A grid geochemical sampling program is proceeding on the Manacal prospect, which forms part of the 1,032-sq.-km Trinidad concession in central Cuba.
The Trinidad is one of three Cuban concessions comprising 2,800 sq. km in which a wholly owned subsidiary of Cabo Exploration Ventures (VSE) can earn 70% of MinAmerica Cuba’s half interest by spending US$3 million on exploration over four years and paying US$630,000 over three years.
The other half interest is held by Cuban national Geominera.
The Manacal prospect contains at least nine showings within a 2-sq.-km area. Trench sampling on a gossan measuring 150 by 50 metres returned 70 metres grading 1.6 grams gold per tonne, as well as 0.23% copper, 0.12% zinc and 0.017% cobalt.
Cabo intends to expand the grid sampling program over the San Juan prospect, where select rock chip samples assayed up to 0.84 oz. gold, 1.7% copper and 0.14% zinc. The closely spaced sampling will be followed up with geophysics to define drill targets.
Detailed exploration is also planned for three other areas on the Trinidad concession, and regional prospecting will be carried out on selected targets on all three concessions.
