In Nanaimo, B.C., 14 teams from mines in the province participated in rescue and first aid contests. Among the winners were Highland Valley Copper (provincial open pit champions); Cominco Sullivan mine (provincial underground champions); and Westar Greenhills (3-person first aid team, champion). The events were sponsored by the province’s Mines Ministry.
