First discovery of gold on the Desjardins property located 18 miles north of Quevillon, Que., has been announced by Brex Exploration (ME). President Claude Britt said two gold lenses were uncovered within a mineralized horizon traced along 2,300 ft of strike length. In the west zone, hole 87-10 intersected 0.23 oz gold per ton over 7.6 ft, hole 87-16 cut 0.15 oz over 7.7 ft and hole 87-20 assayed 0.16 oz over 6.9 ft.
About 1,150 ft to the east, hole 4 cut 0.11 oz over 7.6 ft, hole 13 averaged 0.09 oz over 4.1 ft and hole 26 intersected 0.09 oz over 4.9 ft.
The mineralized horizon was tested to an average depth of about 300 ft. Deeper drilling is planned for this year.
In other news, Brex will continue to drill on the Dasserat property located near Arntfield, south of Rouyn-Noranda, Que., the company having acquired an option from Forbex Resources (ME). Last year Brex tested the shear zone in the west part of the property, intersecting 0.16 oz over 5 ft and 0.11 oz over 6.9 ft.
