Brenda sits on cash

With work continuing to dismantle its now-closed copper mine near Peachland, B.C., Brenda Mines (TSE) reported earnings of $1.6 million on revenue of $2.8 million for the first quarter ended March 31.

This compares with a loss of $3.4 million on revenues of $12.6 million in the year-earlier period.

The primary source of the company’s income comes from interest earned on its cash balance of about $97.7 million, giving the company a net cash value of about $20 per share..
