At the Busang project in East Kalimantan, Bre-X Minerals (ASE) has intersected gold mineralization in 22 of 31 holes over a strike length of 750 metres.
Significant intersections of holes drilled to a maximum depth of 150 metres are 8 metres of 9.28 grams per tonne, 13 metres of 5.44 grams, 8 metres of 5.06 grams and 21 metres of 4.52 grams.
Channel sampling and trenching trace the mineralized zone for 900 metres, while geological mapping and reconnaissance work extend the strike length to 5.3 km. A trench sample returned 18 metres of 4.45 grams. Further drilling, to begin in November, will test the depth of the mineralization. Meanwhile, on the nearby Sangihe Islands, results from two drill holes on the Taware project have defined a zone of gold-copper mineralization measuring 85 metres wide. Hole BXH-9 intercepted the following lengths: 46 metres of 2.88 grams, 4 metres of 3.45 grams, 2 metres of 7.85 grams and 10 metres of 1.8 grams. (Associated copper values are reported as being up to 0.2%.) Hole BXH-10, drilled in the southern extension of the zone (550 metres south of BXH-9), intersected 2 metres of 7.18 grams and 8 metres of 4.49 grams. Drilling continues.
On another Indonesian island, Sumatra, soil sampling at the Sable project has outlined two anomalies of copper, antimony and arsenic. Gold mineralization at depth is reflected by antimony and arsenic values. Bre-X recently doubled its claims in the area to a total of 50,000 hectares.
