The author is a photographer, mining economist and coal historian. The book contains 154 black-and-white portraits of people in Alberta locations and operating mines, in a range of activities from quarrying Rundlestone, to mining coal, to excavating oil sands. Most of the pictures are accompanied by stories, based on recorded interviews by the author.
