Active Canadian Gold Mines. Published by Metals Economics Group. P.O. Box 2206, Halifax, N.S. B3J 3C4. 500 pages. US$1,600.
Canada’s Non-placer gold output levelled off at five million ounces last year, reports Metals Economics Group, as compared with 2.1 million oz. in 1985 and an estimated 4.6 million oz. this year.
The book predicts that this downturn will continue in 1993 as a large number of gold mines are closing or cutting back production.
Ontario and Quebec accounted for 79% of Canada’s total output of primary, non- placer gold last year, up 1% from 1990.
Replete with useful data, this is a well-researched reference.
