A guide to the international mining community, Mining 1991 is a useful source for those with a global outlook. This annual lists more than 700 public, state-owned and privately held companies, with addresses, country of origin, officers and a corporate history. Most companies have producing properties. Also included are their property development, production and reserve data, and financial figures.
The book is complete with a geographical index that lists companies active in every country on every continent; an index of companies by commodity produced; and a company index, an impressive list of subsidiaries of and associates to the main entries.
In an industry where change is constant, the editors appear to have some trouble keeping pace. Such details as corporate name changes have lagged behind and companies that have grown beyond the status of junior are not yet listed.
For example, entries are included for Corona Corp. and International Corona Resources even though International Corona became defunct in July, 1988, when it and three other companies merged to create Corona Corp. Both companies are credited with ownership of the David Bell mine and other assets.
