This volume includes 47 case histories of mineral discoveries in five geologic settings: porphyry copper and related skarn deposits, volcanogenic deposits, porphyry molybdenum deposits and porphyry gold deposits. Each section begins with a discussion of exploration models as guides to mineral prospect location and evaluation and concludes with relevant case histories. The case histories include such deposits as the Toquepala copper porphyry deposit in Peru, the Kidd Creek Mine near Timmins, Ont., and the Fort Knox porphyry gold deposit in Alaska.
