Book Review A new publication

This 21-page report contains the inventory list of the Michigan geological survey’s geological core and sample repository located at Marquette, Mich. The 80,000 ft of core contained in the repository (rock library) represent core from a number of oil and gas wells, the two proposed superconducting super collider sites and many metallic mineral exploration drill holes. The collection currently contains core from over 200 drill holes and is growing.

The drill core is listed by county and includes location, source (company, etc.), well ID (name, number), brief stratigraphy/lithology, footage, number of boxes,and brief comment (availability of log, missing sections, additional data, etc.).

Copies of the inventory are available from: Maps and Graphics, Geological Survey Division, Michigan DNR, O. Box 30028, Lansing, MI 48909. Cost $2(US), postpaid, plus 4% sales tax to Michigan Addresses. Checks should be payable to “State of Michigan.”
