Boart Longyear among CDDA award winners

The Canadian arm of Boart Longyear, based in North Bay, Ont., won both the Class A surface and underground safety awards at the annual general meeting of the Canadian Diamond Drilling Association (CDDA), held recently in Sudbury, Ont.

The Class B surface award was presented to Heath & Sherwood Drilling, based in Kirkland Lake, Ont. Ross Finley 2000, a Val d’Or, Que.-based diamond drilling company, won the Class B underground award.

Kidd Creek Mines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Falconbridge, won the award for best ratio of lost time due to injuries.

The Henry Skowronski Memorial Award for the most improved safety record at a drilling operation was presented to Bradley Bros., based in Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

About 150 people attended the event, where various technical papers were presented.
