Black Swan explores Brazil

The first phase of drilling is under way on claims held by Black Swan Resources (BSW-T) along the Santo Antonio do Bonito River in Brazil. The drilling, in conjunction with a program of geophysical surveys, auger drilling and stream-sediment sampling, is designed to test for the potential source of alluvial diamonds.

Historically, the Santo Antonio do Bonito River has produced significant diamonds. A 5-km stretch of this river has yielded numerous large diamonds, including the 727-carat Presidente Vargas stone and 10 additional stones measuring between 94 and 640 carats.

Black Swan believes the source of these diamonds is local and plans to evaluate six targets by means of 1,000 metres of diamond drilling. Additional targets may be discovered with the completion of magnetic and ground-penetrating radar surveys and stream-sediment sampling.

The company will also carry out bulk sampling, to evaluate its alluvial gravel resource on the Santo Antonio do Bonito claims and other properties along the Paranaiba River. The gravels will be treated using Black Swan’s newly commissioned jig plant.
