Black cat proves lucky for Antares

Toronto-listed Antares Mining & Exploration has identified a new gold zone, known as the Black Cat, at its Lady Lina property in Zimbabwe.

The zone was encountered in drill holes on the 180- and 520-metre levels, in the footwall of the Magazine section. Some of the better values include 4.05 grams gold per tonne over 7.7 metres in Hole LJ6-18 and 4.36 grams over 4.7 metres in Hole LJS-6.

Additional drilling is in progress on the 180-metre level to determine the strike extent of the zone prior to developing a crosscut to gain access to it. Development is also under way on the 300-metre level to allow access for diamond drilling.

In addition to Black Cat, four other zones have been targeted, based on surface exploration: Long John 8, Bullion, Interloper and Yellow Aster. The total measured, indicated, and inferred reserves of these are estimated at 357,000 tonnes grading 6.85 grams to a depth of 300 metres.

A fifth development target, the Lady Lina zone, with a resource of 90,500 tonnes grading 15.87 grams, has also been outlined.

Development of these zones is scheduled to begin in March, in preparation for which the hoisting capacity at the central shaft section is being increased.
