This year, a popular and controversial speaker will make a repeat appearance at the Mineral Outlook Luncheon on Monday, March 3. Bjorn Lomborg is director and adjunct professor of the Copenhagen Consensus Centre at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. The centre, which was founded in 2006, analyzes the world’s greatest challenges and identifies cost-efficient solutions for meeting those challenges.
Lomborg will talk about prioritization, which is politically difficult to accomplish, when he addresses the 2008 Mineral Outlook Luncheon. He will discuss current challenges facing the world, particularly climate change, which he contends is not the catastrophe it is often made out to be. He will also describe the centre’s concept of prioritizing solutions rather than problems. Lomborg is the editor of three books about the Copenhagen Consensus and the author of The Skeptical Environmentalist. His most recent book is Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming in which he argues that global warming is not so important that tens of billions of dollars should be spent trying to prevent it. A special thank you to Newmont Mining Corporation and Franco-Nevada Corporation for sponsoring this event.
Tickets ($55 each) may be purchased online at pdac.ca.
