Birim drills on Ghanaian prospect

Reverse-circulation drilling will commence at the Dunkwa gold property in the Obuasi gold belt of Ghana.

Birim Goldfields (CDN) has contracted an initial 2,000 metres of testing on the Mampon occurrence, its objective being to upgrade a previously defined geological resource to the status of probable reserves.

In 1992, following trenching of Mampon, BHP Minerals calculated a geological resource of 890,000 tonnes grading 1.37 grams gold per tonne. Subsequent work has increased the reserve to 1.3 million tonnes at the same grade.

Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) is funding an exploration program on other parts of the Dunkwa property.
