Work is continuing on two concessions in Tanzania under the direction of BHP Minerals International.
The company is earning a 66% and a 58% interest, respectively, in the Kagera and Kabanga ground from Sutton Resources (VSE). In return, BHP is funding the projects to a production decision.
In an airborne geophysical survey over portions of the properties, the company has succeeded in outlining several anomalies.
Follow-up exploration will include further surface work to evaluate targets before beginning an initial 32,000-ft. drilling program.
Three rigs have already been moved into the area which covers about 9,600 square miles in the northwest corner of the African country. Preliminary reserves in the Kabanga deposit are estimated at 25.5 million tons grading 1.19% nickel, 0.1% cobalt and 0.2% copper based on a 0.5% cutoff for nickel.
Work on Kabanga will focus on reserves peripheral to the main deposit.
