Vancouver An early-stage mapping and sampling program initiated by Beaufield Consolidated Resources (BFD-V) has returned encouraging gold values from a property adjoining Virginia Gold Mines’ (VIA-T) Eleonore property in the James Bay region of Quebec.
Values of up to 12.03 grams gold per tonne were obtained from samples collected at four different locations along a 7-km-long strike length of the same favorable sedimentary unit hosting Virginia’s gold discovery.
Beaufield notes that of the 113 samples collected, 25 returned anomalous gold values, while four contained highly anomalous arsenic values (an apparent indicator for gold in the region).
The best four samples returned 4.2 grams gold and 6.4 grams silver in a granite rusty zone, 12.03 grams gold in greywackes, 6.02 grams gold and 0.9 gram silver in greywackes, and 0.097 gram gold and 3.33% arsenic in sheared basalts near the contact with greywackes.
Beaufield views these initial results as encouraging as they were obtained from sedimentary units consisting of conglomerates and greywackes as observed at Virginia’s Eleonore project. The company notes that very little previous work was done on the Opinaca property.
Sampling crews are continuing to explore the property. A grid is also being cut for geochemical and geophysical surveys.
