Battle Mountain to develop Reona

U.S.-based Battle Mountain Gold (TSE) plans to develop the Reona heap-leach deposit at its Battle Mountain complex in Nevada. The cost will be about $10 million.

Reserves are about 13.5 million tons grading 0.028 oz. gold per ton. Assuming a recovery factor of 70%, the mine is expected to produce 40,000 oz. annually over its 6-year life. The deposit also contains about 600,000 oz. silver.

Plant construction is to begin this summer with production expected to start in early 1994.
