Barrick execs turn options into cash

Five senior officers of Barrick Gold (TSE) exercised options and traded shares of the corporation in December 1995 and January 1996.

According to the Ontario Securities Commission’s OSC Bulletin, Louis Dionne, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 17,800 shares at $14.25 and sold 17,800 shares at $38.63 to hold no shares and 100,000 options. Alan Hill, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 50,000 shares at $14.25 and sold 50,000 shares at $38.25 to hold no shares and 250,000 options. John Lill, director and senior officer of an affiliate, exercised options and acquired 50,000 shares at $14.25 and sold 24,500 at $36.87 and 20,500 at $37 to hold 6,000 shares and 200,000 options. Kenneth Thomas, senior officer, exercised options and acquired 20,000 shares at $14.25 and sold 20,000 shares at $39.25 to hold no shares and 100,000 options. David Welles, senior officer, was granted 120,000 options. Other transactions reported since December include the following:

n Adex Mining (TSE) — Sally Burton, senior officer, bought 12,000 shares at 19 cents to hold 1.2 million shares. William Burton, director and senior officer, bought 20,000 shares at 19.5 cents to hold 4.1 million shares.

n Agnico-Eagle Mines (TSE) — John Clement, director and senior officer, exercised options and acquired 10,000 shares at $4.95 and sold 10,000 shares at $20.50-$20.63 to hold 1,120 shares. Milton Klyman, director, exercised options and acquired 10,800 shares at $4.95-$5.28 and sold 10,800 shares at $20.50 to hold 100 shares.

n Baja Gold (TSE) — Ronald Netolitzky, director and senior officer, bought 40,000 shares at $1.70 to hold 140,000 shares.

n Black Hawk Mining (TSE) — Ned Goodman, a director or senior officer of an affiliate that owns more than 10% of the corporation, acquired 214,286 shares at 70 cents to hold 628,286 shares. Garry Hughes, director, acquired 214,286 shares at 70 cents to hold 1,270,096 shares.

n BMR Gold (TSE) — Frank Varseveld, director and senior officer, sold 42,000 shares at 20 cents-23 cents to hold 946,204 shares.

n River Gold Mines (ME) — Richard Nemis, director, sold 27,000 shares at $2.75 to hold 144,063 shares.

n Tandem Resources (ME) — Stanley Hawkins, director and senior officer, acquired 10,000 shares at 23 cents to hold 1.7 million shares.
