A total of 10,000 ft of drilling is planned by vse-listed Baroque Resources on two properties optioned from Homestake Mineral Development and Conwest Exploration in the Miminiska Lake area of Thunder Bay, Ont.
A total of 8,200 ft of drilling in 20 holes has been completed in Phase I on the 192-claim Baroque- Homestake property. No drilling has been done on the 28-claim Conwest ground.
In addition to a hole drilled in 1986 that returned values of 0.169 oz gold per ton over 12 ft, encouraging results were also received in the 10th hole this year, the company reports. It intersected 5.5 ft of mineralization grading 0.125 oz.
This represents an entirely new zone to the north/northeast of the original discovery, according to the company.
“The amount and intensity of alteration and the widespread occurrences of gold on the properties are very favorable exploration features,” the company’s consultants say.
Baroque can earn a 51% interest in the Homestake property and a 60% interest in the 28-claim Conwest property.
Homestake is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Homestake Mining of San Francisco, Calif.
