Barkerville gets more gold from newly discovered zone

Barkerville Gold Mines’ (BGM-V) recently discovered gold zone at  Barkerville Mountain has returned more stellar results.

The company released a highlight assay from its channel sampling program that returned 8.7 metres grading of 80.78 grams gold per tonne including 0.73 meters grading 145 grams gold and 0.91 metre grading 618 grams gold.

While the company says it has “immediate” plans to drill the new zone it still is waiting for the necessary permits. In the mean time the company will wait on results from the 160 channel samples collected from zone.

The new zone sits roughly 93 metres from the Bonanza Ledge deposit and was discoverd in early September. Recent drilling at Bonanza Ledge returned a highlight intercept of 22.6 metres grading 6.83 grams gold.

Bonanza Ledge and the new zone sit within the company’s larger Cariboo Gold Project in Barkerville, B.C. The area has a rich mining history with more than 3.8 million oz of historical gold production.

The Vancouver-based company became a gold producer this month with the first pouring of gold dore at its QR Mine, which is also in B.C.

In Toronto on Oct. 4 the company’s shares were up 3% or 4¢ to $1.20 on 1.05 million shares traded.
