Banro Res. drills in Dem. Republic of Congo

Toronto-based Banro Resource (BNRS-C) has finally succeeded in airlifting some 90 tons of equipment — including two diamond-drill rigs — from South Africa to its Twangiza gold deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The move comes after more than six months of delays while Banro and its investors waited for political stability to return to the country (T.N.M., March 27/97).

The first phase of the 6,000-metre drilling program will consist of 10 closely spaced holes near the Twangiza deposit’s summit plus 10 additional holes drilled along the deposit’s strike extensions.

The property lies in eastern South Kivu province.
