Central banks and the international gold market will be the focus of the next luncheon of the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), to be held May 21 at 12 p.m. at the Ontario Club.
The meeting will feature David Gulley, a New York City-based senior economist with Price Waterhouse, who will make a presentation based on his report, Gold and the Magi: Central Banks from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Gulley is known for his analyses and extensive publications on the gold market. He has advised clients in matters of commodity market analysis, project feasibility, shareholder value analysis and public policy modelling and analysis.
In his talk, Gulley will discuss similarities between the 1979 and 1998 gold markets, sources of information on central bank reserves and the next steps in the European Monetary Union process.
