Band-Ore puts resource figure on Thorne

Three advanced exploration projects in the Timmins, Ont. region have moved a step closer to development.

At the Thorne property, Band-Ore Resources (BAN-T) has released its long-Awaited resource estimate.

Consultant Joseph Spiteri reports that the project contains a total resource of about 6.9 million tonnes grading 1.5 grams gold per tonne.

The resource comprises three zones: the West, which contains 5 million tonnes of 1.1 grams gold; the East, which holds 1 million tonnes of 2.8 grams; and the Fault, which consists of 900,000 tonnes grading 2.5 grams.

Lack of drill information prevented Spiteri from calculating a resource for the Kapika zone, to the north, and for the area between the East and West zones.

Spiteri also reviewed Band-Ore’s core-handling and sampling procedures, selecting 200 check samples of split core for re-Assaying. His report concluded that correlation between the original results and the check assays was high.

Preliminary metallurgical tests at Lakefield Research indicated that 90% of the gold can be recovered by flotation.

Band-Ore is also mounting a large drill program east of the East zone, where a recent drill hole yielded a 4.7-Metre intersection grading 43.5 grams gold.

Two other drill holes are testing the extension of the mineralized structure downdip, and previous holes appear to have intersected the same zone 50 metres to the east.

Meanwhile, Holmer Gold Mines (HGM-T) has received a new resource estimate for its Bristol Twp. property, a short distance north of Thorne. Watts, Griffis & McOuat has confirmed an estimate of 1.3 million tonnes grading 8 grams gold.

An indicated resource of 797,000 tonnes grading 6.8 grams is supplemented by 542,000 tonnes grading 9.8 grams in the inferred category.

Holmer, in addition to operating two drill rigs on the property, is stripping overburden and taking surface samples.

In German and Stock twps., east of Timmins, United Tex-Sol Mines (UTX.A-A) has been drilling deep holes to test for downdip continuity of the DL zone on the Clavos property.

Hole CN-88 intersected 26 metres of 5 grams gold at a vertical depth of 372 metres; the intersection included a 5-Metre interval grading 26.7 grams. Hole CN-90 cut two zones — one of 4 metres grading 5.4 grams (290 metres deep) and another of 3 metres grading 2.2 grams (297 metres deep). Based on these results, the company will drill four additional holes, below the 300-Metre level.

The Clavos prospect has an inferred resource of 6.1 million tonnes grading 5.2 grams gold.
