Band-Ore keen on Thorne drill results

More encouraging drill results have been released from the Thorne property, west of Timmins, Ont., held by Band-Ore Resources (BAN-T).

Most of the results are from infill holes drilled in the eastern part of the Golden River gold zone. Mineralization was also encountered in holes drilled west and east of, and along strike from, the discovery hole.

Hole TW96-1, collared 1.2 km west of the discovery, intersected 3 metres grading 8.2 grams gold per tonne (T.N.M., Sept. 2/96). A second hole, drilled from a collar 50 metres south of the first one, intersected a 5-metre length grading 4.5 grams per tonne, including a 3-metre interval of 6.3 grams.

The company is anticipating assay results from another hole, drilled 1.2 km east of the discovery hole, as it exhibited sulphide mineralization similar to known prospects. Also, the wall rocks were altered similarly to those in the mineralized zones.

The results suggest showings may exist along a 2.4-km strike length.

Each of four holes advanced in the vicinity of the discovery hole intersected gold mineralization, including hole TH96-75 which cut a 1.1-metre length grading 83.4 grams per tonne (2.43 oz. per ton). Wider intersections, 1.7-2.3 metres long, were reported from the other holes. Grades in those holes were in the range of 4-7 grams gold.

The bulk of drill results are from the southern and eastern ends of the discovery, where Band-Ore hopes to outline grade and tonnage estimates by year-end. Grades are in the range of 3-7 grams. Two higher-grade intersections were also cut, including 7.5 grams over 3.2 metres and 11.6 grams over 6 metres.
