Band-Ore finds more gold

A 6-hole drill program by Band-Ore Resources (BAN-T) at its Thorne property, west of Timmins, Ont., has found low-grade gold mineralization in previously untested areas south of the Main zone.

Two holes drilled 2 km south of the known mineralization intersected highly altered volcanic rocks with sericite, quartz, carbonate and fuchsite. One hole returned an average grade of 0.5 gram gold per tonne over a 5.4-metre core length, while the other intersected the downdip projection of this same zone, encountering grades of around 0.05 gram.

A third hole, 1 km south of the main mineralization, cut a 72.3-metre core length with grades varying from non-detectable to 0.4 gram per ton. The host rocks were altered volcanics with fuchsite, quartz and carbonate, plus local pyrite and arsenopyrite.

Three other holes did not intersect any significant gold mineralization.

Band-Ore plans to start an airborne magnetic survey in the next two weeks, and drilling on other, untested targets will begin in March.
