Aurizon’s Beacon bet yields barren holes

No economic values were encountered in a recent 15,000-ft. drill program completed by Rio Algom (TSE) on the Beacon base metal property of Aurizon Mines (TSE) near Val d’Or, Que. The claims are about a mile west of the horizon which hosts the Louvicourt Twp. base metal deposit of Aur Resources (TSE) and Societe Minere Louvem (TSE).

Rio completed five deep holes on 1,500-ft. centres during the first phase of its option to earn a 50% interest in the Beacon West property of Aurizon. Down-hole pulse EM surveys were also completed on all holes but no significant off-hole responses were observed.

The planning of a second phase of exploration drilling will await final interpretation and recommendation from Rio, said David Hall, vice-president of Aurizon.
