Exploration resumed recently on three Val d’Or, Que., base metal properties optioned by Aur Resources (TSE) from Consolidated Abitibi Resources (ME) and Dumont Nickel (ME).
Aur is spending $500,000 on a 20,000-ft. program to test known targets on the Bevcon, Abitibi and Dumont properties which lie adjacent to Aur’s Louvicourt Twp. massive sulphide joint venture with Societe Miniere Louvem (TSE).
Under a March, 1989, agreement with Consolidated Abitibi and Dumont Nickel, Aur can earn a 70% stake in each of the properties by spending $3.5 million on exploration prior to Dec. 31, 1993.
Having already spent about $1 million, Aur has obtained a number of encouraging results including a 35-ft. intersection averaging 2.05% copper and 0.18 oz. silver per ton within disseminated pyrite mineralization on the Bevcon claims.
Now known as the Surprise Lake zone, the Bevcon discovery straddles the southern property boundary with Aur’s 100% owned Courageous property.
On the Dumont claims which are adjacent to the east of Bevcon, several untested I.P. anomalies are waiting to be drilled.
Aur said it is deploying two machines initially at Dumont and Bevcon. It will also test base metal targets on the Abitibi property as well.
