Aur drilling for diamonds in N.W.T.

Drilling has begun on the McConnell diamond project, northeast of Yellowknife, N.W.T.

The property, a joint venture among Aur Resources (TSE), Thunderwood Resources (TSE), Consolidated Abitibi Resources (ME) and Jonpol Explorations (TSE), consists of about 20 targets near La Martre, Pollock and Basler Lakes. The targets have been defined through airborne and ground magnetic surveys, as well as through follow-up work on kimberlitic indicator mineral trains. They will be drill-tested for diamondiferous kimerlites before Feb. 28, 1994. The first phase will focus on land targets, which are accessible prior to freeze-up.

A second phase, on higher-priority targets associated with circular magnetic anomalies under lakes, will begin as soon as weather and ice conditions permit.
