Audrey’s best hole adds to Mobrun ore potential

Hebert reports hole 89-69 intersected 323.5 ft of massive sulphide averaging 1.35% copper, 6.39% zinc, 0.04 oz gold per ton and 1.09 oz silver per ton. True width of the intersection is reported to be 213 ft.

Audrey, with a 70% interest in the property, has announced a mid- July resumption of mining operations at the Mobrun project, following a 10-month shutdown. Joint-venture partner Minnova Inc. (TSE) has a 30% interest.

During the planned shutdown, an expansion program was undertaken to gain access to the 850, 870 and 930 lenses. Work included sinking a 4-compartment shaft an additional 470 ft to 1,250 ft.

Three levels are being excavated to mine the three lenses. The company says the lowest level could eventually be extended towards the deeper 1100 lens for definition drilling of the upper portion of the lens.

The four lenses were discovered during late 1987-early 1988. The shaft was originally sunk to serve the main lens.

Construction of a new mill began in August, 1988. Some changes have been made to the mill’s flowsheet in order to allow immediate treatment of ore from the 1100 lens, expected to come on stream in 1992. Copper and zinc flotation circuits have been increased in size. The addition of a grinding mill could boost the daily milling capacity to 1,650 tons from 1,100 tons.

Audrey reports proven and probable (diluted) reserves to date, from the 1100 lens, of about 6.6 million tons averaging 0.66% copper, 5.84% zinc, 0.05 oz gold and 1.27 oz silver. Prior to the current drilling, reserves of the 1100 lens, including those classified as possible ore reserves, were estimated to be 16.3 million tons. The 1100 lens is open vertically and laterally.
