Audrey exercises its Mobrun option

Audrey Resources has earned a 50% interest in the Mobrun property, controlled by Corporation Falconbridge Copper. The interest was earned after Audrey spent $5 million and mined out a 10,000- tonne bulk sample from the property near Rouyn, Que. The ore was delivered to Falconbridge’s Norbec mill.

Metallurgical testing on the material began on Oct 1 and preliminary results are positive, Audrey says. The initial mill test is being done on ore which is part of a 60,000-tonne stockpile mined from the Mobrun open pit by the company. Additional material will be accessed via a 700-ft shaft which has been sunk to the 532-ft level.

Reserves to the first bench of the open pit were calculated at 63,225 tonnes grading 0.76% copper, 2.95% zinc and 0.073 oz gold per ton. Underground reserves are estimated at 1 million tonnes grading 0.09 oz.

Diamond drilling is also starting on the company’s properties near Belleterre, Casa Berardi and Launay-Guyenne; all in Quebec.
