Auction raises funds for gallery

An auction organized by the Walker Mineralogical Club raised more than $5,000, which will help finance construction of the Earth Sciences Gallery of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

Donating items to the auction were Conwest Exploration, Inco and Rio Algom. These companies, together with mineral dealers, clubs and individuals from the mineral collecting community, donated mineral specimens, literature and equipment.

The auction took place at a special mineral show in May at the University of Waterloo. It was sponsored by the Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies, of which the Walker Club is a member. The show was staged in conjunction with the joint annual meeting of the Geological Association of Canada and the Mineralogical Association of Canada.
