Atlas Copco Expands To Louisiana

Compressor giant Atlas Copco of Stockholm, Sweden has expanded its business base once again. This time the target is the southern U.S.A.

Louisiana-based Premier Equipment’s compressor division, has joined Atlas Copco’s compressor division, having been a key Atlas distributor for many years.

“The acquisition brings us closer to our customers in the region, letting us build on the strong base that Premier Equipment has developed in key segments,” Stephan Kuhn, business area president of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique, said in a statement.

Premier, which is based out of Baton Rouge, has been a key supplier to chemical and petrochemical refining, offshore drill services, ship building and engineering services for the gas and oil sector in the region.

As part of the acquisition, 12 members from Premier’s compressor division will join Atlas with the division being absorbed into the southern region of Atlas Copco Compressors. The non-compressor side of the company, which sells pumps and processing equipment, will continue as Premier Equipment. Both parties have agreed not to discuss the purchase price.
