Geochemical sampling by Atapa Minerals (AML-M) has led to the discovery of a new gold-silver showing on the Cikotok-Cikidang project in southwestern Java, Indonesia.
Dubbed Muara Tiga, the showing is associated with a steeply dipping, northeasterly trending shear zone traced on surface for 1 km. Gold mineralization is hosted by a quartz vein said to be similar to that of the Cikidang epithermal gold-silver deposit, situated 2 km to the east.
Gold values from channel samples varied between 0.5 and 30.75 grams per tonne, while silver values ranged from 1.43 to 8.02 grams. The best result was 6.1 metres averaging 30.75 grams gold and 21 grams silver. A trenching program is under way.
While exploration continues, the company is carrying out a prefeasibility study on the Cikidang deposit. Part of the study will include an independent calculation to confirm a previous resource estimate of 473,000 tonnes grading 10 grams gold and 87.7 grams silver.
Atapa can earn 67.5% and 63% interests, respectively, in the adjoining Cikotok and Cikidang licences by funding all exploration work. The remaining interests are held on a carried basis and divided between a private Indonesian company and state-owned Antam.
